October 5, 2009 Proceedings Available from National Meeting on Poultry Health and Processing
Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI), the non-profit trade association for the broiler chicken industry, whose members include farm families that grow chickens, four chicken companies, hundreds of poultry company employees, and hundreds of suppliers of products and services to the chicken industry, has available printed and disc copies of presentations made at last week's National Meeting on Poultry Health and Processing. The printed proceedings are available for delivery within the United States at $10 per copy and the disc version is available for delivery within the U.S. at $5 per copy. September 16, 2009 Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. Reacts to Chespeake Bay Executive Order Draft Reports
Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI), the non-profit trade association for the broiler chicken industry, whose members include farm families that grow chickens, four chicken companies, hundreds of poultry company employees, and hundreds of suppliers of products and services to the chicken industry, has reviewed the two draft reports related to agriculture that were issued on September 10 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. DPI believes some of the intended programs could be harmful to the chicken industry without doing much to improve bay water quality.

August 25, 2009 Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. Awards College Scholarships
Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. (DPI), the non-profit trade association for the broiler chicken industry, whose members include farm families that grow chickens, four chicken companies, hundreds of poultry company employees, and hundreds of suppliers of products and services to the chicken industry, has announced the recipients in its 2009 College Scholarship Program. Six outstanding young people were chosen to receive grants totaling $10,000.

June 14, 2009 Maryland Association of Conservation Districts' President Praises Agriculture for Positive Steps in Chesapeake Bay Nutrient Reductions
President Lee McDaniel writes, "It is encouraging to see from BayStat’s charts and graphs that 10 out of 13 agricultural conservation programs are making progress in approaching their nitrogen, phosphorus,
and sedimentation goals. When looking at nitrogen inputs from agricultural lands since
2006, farmers have reduced their contribution by approximately 332,000 pounds of
nitrogen per year. In that same time frame, nitrogen inputs from urban contributors
have increased an average of 902,000 pounds."

June 5, 2009 New National Broiler Chicken Data Announced
Chickens remain an important agricultural product and economic activity in Delmarva’s three states according to new data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Based on the pounds of meat-chickens produced in 2008, Maryland ranked 8th in the nation, while Delaware was 9th, and Virginia was 12th.
